|A Pre-Arranged Meeting — by God!
Today, I traveled to a town about a half hour from home to go to the oriental grocery store where I get my goods, since my mom had asked for a bag of rice. We are leaving tomorrow morning to go to Illinois, to be with my folks — Dad’s cancer surgery is on Monday morning. As I left here, I remembered that I also wanted to stop at the Christian bookstore that is just a few blocks down the street from the store. So I headed on down, & before I went into the store, I stopped to take a photo of the one refreshing goody that I’d bought at the store. (This in itself is unusual — I usually have several goodies to “dig into” after leaving this store.
I then headed into the bookstore. I was searching for some material for teaching my Kids’Korner class on Wednesday nights at church. After finding something suitable, I went over to look at the cards, since I needed to get some boxes of cards as well as a couple others. As I was looking, I saw this sign “Cancer Care Cards.” There was a lady standing there looking at them, too. Here is one that I bought.(www.cancercarecards.com) We began talking, and I mentioned that my Dad was having surgery to remove cancer on Monday morning. She began to tear up; and I asked her if she also had someone dear to her with cancer. She did, but her friend had recovered completely after surgery… and was 80 years old. She was crying for me and my family. As we continued to share, she asked for Dad’s name, and said she would pray for him. We hugged each other, and she began praying right then & there for Dad, Mom, me & the rest of my family. Now ~ I don’t know about your angels,
but mine looked kind of like the one on the left. Dee (my “angel”) told me how she hadn’t really planned at all to come to the store, but felt like God was telling her to keep driving to it. I almost had forgotten to stop here.
Personally, I’m convinced that God had us meet there today, so that He could use this precious saint of His to encourage me. I saw her as she was at the cash register, and we said our goodbyes. Oh yes, and she handed me a bag, and said: “That’s for your mother.”
It was a bookmark bearing the following message:
“What Cancer Cannot Take from You”
It cannot take away your
or lessen your
It cannot destroy true
or take away
It cannot conquer your
As I got into my car, I thought ~ I need a picture of the store ~ “Faith Christian Book Store” to finish off my story, for of course, it had to be told! All of the way home, I was praising the Lord for His precious kindness and grace to me: to plan this meeting so carefully that two ladies who were from opposite directions from this city, would meet in the same card aisle – looking at the same cards – at the very same time! GOD’S TIME!
Romans 8: 26-29 CEV
26In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words.27All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people.28We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,29and he has always known who his chosen ones would be. He had decided to let them become like his own Son, so that his Son would be the first of many children.
